Management

At Keele University, we’re different. Nestled in 600 acres of countryside in the heart of the UK, we have a big campus but a small and cosmopolitan community. We’re proud to be ‘University of the Year for Student Experience’ in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2017, in addition to having been ranked No.1 in the National Student Survey 2014-2016. This is because it’s more than green and lovely, it’s a place of research and academic excellence too. You will study an overview of the historic and contemporary problems and solutions of business management in a social context. This will enhance your understanding and skills for a range of employment options; from business and management to financial and strategic roles. We have developed this programme from our commitment to the responsibilities of business and their managers to wider social improvement. The content promotes reflection on a broad range of issues, including the promotion of gender equality, developing socially responsible practice and respect for difference and diversity. The programme includes new areas of research and development in the discipline as well as the foundations required for understanding business. You will read about organisations and their operations and strategies, and learn a range of perspectives on employees and their relationship with organisations as employees or stakeholders. This is supported by optional modules offering a basic working knowledge in accounting and economics as well as free electives to develop specialisms. You will develop the knowledge, skills, self confidence and self-awareness you need to pursue your career goals. You might choose to take up a directly related career, such as in business management, human resource management, consultancy, finance, insurance, IT, marketing or accounting. Alternatively, your broad skill set will be eminently transferable into other careers. You could also go on to study for a postgraduate qualification in a related business management subject or in another aspect of social science.
