The Business Foundation Year gives an excellent preparation for a wide range of subjects relating to business, management, accounting, finance and economics. The programme consists of a set of modules that has been approved by Keele Management School. After you have completed your Business Foundation Year, you will begin the Business and Human Resource Management course. Business and Human Resource Management at Keele offers a superb insight into the multi-faceted relationship between the employee and the organisation, exploring concepts and debates in business, human resource management and organisational behaviour. Taught by friendly and approachable tutors and accredited by the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD), you will learn how organisations function as part of their wider context, how they are managed, and how they plan their future needs. You will critically compare different markets, organisation structures and strategies and their interrelationship with employees. The programme explores the formal and informal ways of regulating the employment relationship in the public, private and voluntary sectors, including employment relations and law. While developing effective skills in listening, negotiating and persuasion, you’ll become adept at problem solving and decision making. You’ll explore and apply theories about the nature, management and experience of employment in its local and global contexts. Keele enjoys high rates of graduate employment, where in 2016, were recognised nationally as 1st for employability in the Destination of Leavers from Higher Education survey. By studying Business and Human Resource Management you will acquire a broad range of knowledge and skills which will equip you to choose a career in the commercial, public or charitable sectors. Your skills and in-depth understanding of employment will prepare you for a variety of specialist human resource management roles such as training and development, equality and diversity, recruitment or occupational psychology. Equally the skills will be suited to management functions, management consultancy or other business related functions. You might also choose to go on to study for a postgraduate degree in these subjects.
