At Keele University, we’re different. Nestled in 600 acres of countryside in the heart of the UK, we have a big campus but a small and cosmopolitan community. We proudly rank 1st for student satisfaction in the National Student Survey for the last three years. This is because it’s more than green and lovely, it’s a place of research and academic excellence too. You would start this course with the Business Foundation Year. This gives excellent preparation for a wide range of subjects relating to business, management, accounting, finance and economics. The programme consists of a set of modules that has been approved by Keele Management School. On completion of the foundation year, you would then progress onto the Accounting, Finance and International Business programme. At Keele University, this programme encourages you to take a critical and globalised approach to the theory and practice of management and finance. You will gain a diverse range of knowledge and skills across the three subject areas and engage with other disciplines including law, economics, environmental science, mathematics, politics, psychology and sociology. You will learn both the theoretical frameworks of accounting and finance while also using practical techniques in applied problem solving. The Finance modules are designed to help you better understand the theories leading to the design of financial institutions, the services they provide and the products they sell. The topics covered range from optimal portfolio creation and management, to project appraisals and financing, to risk management through the use of such derivatives as options, futures and swaps. Our modules are accredited by chartered organisations such as CIMA. Alongside this you will learn how to use industry standard software such as Bloomberg and Sage to organise, present and analyse business data. You can take a placement year between years two and three of your studies, giving you valuable opportunities to apply theories and concepts to real world organisations. Our programme is recognised by a number of professional accountancy bodies, meaning important exemptions from professional exams, should you choose to further your career in accountancy. As you will have a solid understanding of management, accounting and finance in their global context you could work in a variety of roles, for example, as an investment analyst, financial trader, banker or investment banker, chartered or management accountant, or tax advisor anywhere in the world. You could also decide to go on to study for a postgraduate qualification in management, accounting or finance. In 2016, Keele University were recognised nationally as 1st for employability in the Destination of Leavers from Higher Education survey.
