Product Support Engineering

Specialist engineering: Harper Adams concentrates on the teaching of specialist mechanical engineering courses aimed at the agricultural and off highway industries. The Product Support Engineering degree programme aims to provide graduates who can function effectively as members of engineering teams within the agricultural mobile machinery and construction plant based industries, taking particular responsibility for product support, product specialist and technical sales roles. Key aspects developed during the degree programme include: A core mechanical engineering foundation; a detailed understanding of current technologies and the requirements of their working environment(s), to ensure industry readiness from day one; the capability to diagnose and report technical failures; and the skills to successfully maintain the relationships between manufacturer / importer, dealer, customer and end user – in order to maximise suitability and up-time of engineered products in their applications. Students spend their third year on placement, where they work as engineers within product support, product specialist, technical sales and demonstration roles. Graduates from this programme will typically find employment within the manufacturing and commercial areas of agricultural and off road engineering companies.
