This Geography and Environmental Management focused course is multidisciplinary in nature and will introduce you to elements of environment, society and economy before moving on to topics such as sustainable development and environmental management. You will gain practical knowledge of geographic information systems (GIS) applications and will develop a detailed understanding of environmental planning legislation, waste/resource management issues and environmental management. Practical field skills are an important element of this course and you will benefit from a residential field course in the UK during your first and fourth year of study. Year two students will undertake a field expedition to a European location. Final year students will be given the opportunity to develop an independent research project on a geographical/environmental topic of their choice; they will also learn about specialist current topics such as sustainable energy.
