UNSW Sydney

Comedy and satire play a vital role in commenting on, and critiquing, the world around us. - You’ll have the opportunity to specialise in one of two pathways: writing, or writing & performing. - In both pathways you'll examine how comedy and satire have evolved across time-periods and cultures; developing your historical, social, political and cultural knowledge of these art forms. You'll also be able to gain practical skills including writing, performing, monologue, experimental performance, and live art. - The course is designed for students wishing to work professionally as performers, stand ups, writers, directors, and producers for stage, screen and radio as well as scholars, critics, journalists and teachers. - Many of the department’s academic staff are also active industry professionals – writers, directors, performers and dramaturges. They will be joined by professional comics and writers to help you hone your craft.
