Sports Journalism

BA(Hons) Sports Journalism is committed to producing the next generation of sports journalists – digitally adept reporters, commentators and feature writers eager to put sport on the front pages and at the top of broadcast news bulletins and websites. Building on a strong tradition of journalism education at Falmouth, this is the only sports degree in the South West of England accredited by both the NCTJ (National Council for the Training of Journalists) and also now recommended for accreditation by BJTC (Broadcast Journalism Training Council) – a double kitemark that could give you a real advantage when competing for your first job. Cornwall is world-famous for water sports but, no matter your personal passion – football, Formula 1, NFL, athletics, tennis, rugby, golf, cycling, surfing or whatever – we’ll kit you out fully to break into the media and communications business and rise rapidly up its ranks. We embrace the whole world of sport. This is the only Sports Journalism degree in the South West with NCTJ accreditation, a key advantage when breaking into the news business at both local and national level. Led by a team of dedicated and highly experienced journalism staff, you'll draw on their industry know-how gathered everywhere from the World Cup Finals to the Reuters' sports desk.
