English with Creative Writing

At the heart of English with Creative Writing is the understanding that wide and critical reading is integral to a writer’s development. At Falmouth you will explore essential literary issues while taking your own words beyond the traditional page, discovering new forms and ideas. You will also be introduced to the 'business' of writing and its professional contexts, ensuring that you understand the demands of publishing and content industries. This distinctive course enables you to engage with English literature and its evolving genres and forms, while also encouraging your development as a writer. With several elective modules, you can direct the course structure according to your emerging interests and aspirations. Teaching is equally dynamic, varying from lectures and group seminars to workshops and individual feedback. All students benefit from our School of Writing & Journalism’s Visiting Lecture Series and Writers in Residence. Recent guests have included the writer and comedian Stewart Lee, bestselling author Matt Haig and the award-winning novelist Lionel Shriver.
