This market leading course will equip you with the skills and knowledge to embark on a highly rewarding career within a potentially huge industry. This course aims to develop the next generation of financial professionals, who will be able to identify enabling FinTech solutions to leverage business opportunities and create business value. Students will identify current market opportunities and develop concepts that could be taken to market. Working closely with industry partners, students will apply their knowledge from modules in an incremental way to build complete business plans that could result in new venture formation Although there is real demand of FinTech professionals in the market, very few Universities are offering FinTech undergraduate degrees. Two Universities in the Europe offer FinTech U/G degrees – Glyndwr University and University of Lodz in Poland. This course will blend academic learning with real application as students are required to develop new FInTech ideas and to take to market. It is backed by a strong and growing network of professional FinTech experts, who will ensure that the course is grounded in current and emerging trends. The ‘doing it for real’ ethos is a key point of differentiation, with students actively involved in activities that will increase employability and entrepreneurial capabilities from day 1, such as work placements, real life scenarios and a comprehensive talent development package. As an accelerated degree, this course provides the opportunity for students to fast track their studies and get into work a year earlier. FinTech cannot be taught by a traditional lecture degree format. It is about ‘doing’ and ‘exploring’. Therefore, from day one you will be immersed in a series of real life case studies of FinTech solutions that covers fields ranging from bank transactions to wealth management and insurance. Through our 'Being Innovative' module, you will form teams and begin exploring new and innovative solutions to current financial issues. The remaining Stage 1 modules have all been specifically developed to take you through the process of building a business plan, which you will do for your team’s preferred FinTech idea. For the remainder of the course, you will develop your ideas further, supported by our team of coaches who will work with you to develop your thinking. This may involve working with coders to create a prototype solution that you can use to pitch to industry experts. You will work closely with other student cohorts, both within the Business School and across the wider University to help leverage and critique your ideas further. You will be developing your knowledge, business skills and self-confidence simultaneously, so that you graduate fully prepared to enter the job market or develop your own business in or outside of the FinTech environment. Students will have a number of opportunities over the duration of their studies, all geared toward increasing employability and entrepreneurial capabilities. This includes a comprehensive ‘MBA style’ talent development package. This support package will give students a head start in their career journey and to maximise their employability credentials and include things like mentoring, interview practice and support with finding placements. Due to the nature of how this course is delivered with a significant coaching element and small group support, the intake is limited to strictly 30 places.
