More about Erasmus University Rotterdam

Home to hard-working, entrepreneurial students since 1913

Welcome to Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR), an international research university with more than 100 years of experience helping bachelor, master, and PhD students pursue their ambitions in the areas of wealth, health, governance, and culture.

We are known for our pragmatic approach, our entrepreneurial vibe, and a “make it happen” mentality that serves to help our 26.000 students and researchers achieve their ambitions.

High quality education at a top-100 research university

From our own student feedback to international university rankings, EUR maintains an excellent reputation. We are proud that EUR is consistently ranked in the top 2% of the world’s best universities.

Notoriously reasonable tuition

Dutch higher education offers incredible value due to a long-term commitment from the Dutch government to educational accessibility; most EUR programmes cost roughly €2,000 for European students, and not too much more for students from other parts of the world. In addition, EUR offers different scholarships and financial aid based on students’ needs.

International bachelor and master programmes

With the exception of double degrees, all of our bachelor programmes are three years and result in an internationally-recognized Bachelor of Science (BSc) or Bachelor of Arts (BA). The vast majority of our students continue directly to one of our 50+ international master programmes. In general, master programmes are one year and result in a Master of Science (MSc), Master of Arts (MA), or Master of Laws (LLM) degree. If you anticipate earning a PhD, you may choose to follow a two-year Research Master programme; we offer hundreds of PhD opportunities.

At Erasmus University Rotterdam, we offer not only top quality education, but also ample possibilities to make the best of your student life! Erasmus University's main campus was designed to offer students everything they need in a place where they feel safe. In addition to excellent study areas and a modern library, students can also choose from a number of places to eat, get active in the sports center or join a variety of social and academic clubs. Need to get a haircut or fix your bike? We got that covered, too.

Our main campus is just a short tram, metro, or bike ride from the city centre of Rotterdam – the Netherlands’ second biggest city. Rotterdam’s huge port, many multinational companies, and melting pot of cultures serve as both a living laboratory for our researchers and a backdrop for a rich student life.

Thanks to its international train station and local airport, Rotterdam is also an excellent base to explore Europe. English is an unofficial second language here and nearly everyone you meet will love to speak English with you, even off campus.

At Erasmus University Rotterdam, top researchers, teachers, support staff and students contribute to a characteristic and lively ambiance. We offer meaningful and versatile work for scientific and support staff who value professionalism, integrity and involvement.

Erasmus University Rotterdam finds the development of her employees of great importance. With our career-development and mobility policies as well as several educational possibilities, we support and stimulate you to actively shape your own career.
