Computer Security BSc (Hons) at De Montfort University sits within our renowned Cyber Security Centre (CSC). You will be taught by a team of experienced, specialist forensics and security staff who focus on a wide variety of cyber security and digital forensics issues. You will have access to our industry-standard facilities within the Cyber Security Laboratories; developed in consultation with leaders in the industry, the laboratories contain 65 high-spec, specially customised PCs which meet the highest forensics and security standards. 100 per cent of graduates from this course are in full-time employment or further education within six months of completing their course (DLHE 2014/15).This specialist course covers the broad study of computer science, with particular emphasis on the CIA triad: confidentiality, integrity and availability of information. You will learn the theory and practical element of the subject area including the fundamental principle of computer networks, computer architecture, discrete mathematics, programming language concepts, cryptography and secure multi-tier web systems. You will also be encouraged to attend guest lectures by industry professionals who visit the CSC on a regular basis.
