This course aims to cover skills and knowledge associated with the technology and techniques involved in the creation and recording of music and audio. Core themes covered are: the principles of sound and acoustics, and musical instrument acoustics; music composition and production in various contexts; recording equipment and music software/hardware; and the business environment. We will cover the fundamentals of sound, signals and acoustics, learning about the tools and techniques commonly used in music technology. We aim to provide you with a strong understanding of underlying technical principles so that you can design studio space effectively or make informed decisions about appropriate technologies, production values and outputs.
