French and International Relations

This course aims to provide you with a real understanding of recent social, political, business and cultural developments in France and the francophone world. You can study French with Spanish, Business or International Relations. If you choose this course you will: develop your powers of analysis and judgement relating to important contemporary issues in International Relations; develop critical understanding of the contemporary international system; understand the national and global dimension of international relations. You will also benefit from: A year studying or working in a French-speaking country, which provides you with an international experience that many businesses are looking for when employing a graduate; student exchange agreements with universities in Paris, Lille, Tours, Bordeaux, Grenoble, Dijon, Metz and Strasbourg; use of modern technologies, such as ‘Babbel' and 'Duolingo' to maintain links with native speakers of the language that you are studying; experienced teaching staff who bring professional or research expertise in to their teaching; teaching about French culture and society that gives you specific applied language skills which will be relevant to the workplace; the opportunity to gain valuable work experience by mentoring pupils and shadowing French teachers (subject to application).
