English and Journalism

Whether you want to write for print or online audiences, this English and Journalism course can show you how to communicate effectively. This highly practical course is designed to give you an understanding of how media, cultural and creative organisations operate and are managed, helping to prepare you to critically engage with the world around you and investigate how events are examined and reported. Coventry is ranked the 9th best university in the country for ‘Journalism, Publishing and Public Relations’ in the Guardian University Guide 2018. Here, you’ll learn from faculty passionate about the concept of a free, informed society; some of whom are writers and former journalists who’ve worked for national publications and news corporations, including the former Political Editor of the Irish Sunday Mirror and Editor in Chief of Classics car magazine. With extensive professional links, you’ll have the opportunity to apply for industry placements and hear from expert guest lecturers, which have previously included Michael Binyon OBE, former Moscow Correspondent of The Times, for example.
