Passion for language and a Creative Writing degree can lead to exciting careers in publishing, advertising, teaching, journalism and more. Sharpen your writing skills, free your imagination, let your creative juices flow and be inspired in the company of poets, playwrights, publishers, screenwriters and novelists. This course is designed to teach you how to write creatively, but more importantly, professionally. We help to prepare you for a huge range of careers that demand creative communication – including publishing, journalism, PR, teaching, advertising and marketing – with 95% of our students finding employment or continuing their studies within six months of graduation. (DHLE 2014/15) In joining our vibrant creative community, you’ll be taught by academics who are creative writers themselves, as well as guest lecturers, which have previously included authors Amanda Smyth, whose short stories have been published in New Writing, London Magazine and broadcast on Radio 4, and Mez Packer, whose first novel ‘Among Thieves’ was shortlisted for the Commonwealth Writers' Prize and The People's Book Prize in 2010. You’ll also have the opportunity to attend a writers’ retreat in the lovely coastal town of Whitby, staying next door to the Abbey and the graveyard, which was an inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
