All forms of business require a HRM professional. This human resources degree can teach you about managing and treating employees fairly. Relying on Human Resource Management (HRM) and Development (HRD) professionals, successful organisations recognise the importance of being able to recruit, select, develop, motivate, performance manage and reward their employees efficiently and effectively in order to realise their business goals. Coventry University has delivered HRM courses for over 30 years. This course is designed to develop a sound understanding of the knowledge, skills and behaviours required by HRM professionals today and support individuals looking to develop a career in managing and leading people. In addition to your degree, you can achieve the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) Intermediate Certificate or Diploma in either HRM or HRD. You will have to pass certain CIPD Modules to gain credits to obtain the certificate or diploma. This course aims to provide a solid foundation in the management of people, drawing upon the contemporary human resource, business theory and practice required for effective performance at a strategic level as either an HR specialist. The new CIPD qualifications are specifically designed to incorporate the needs of both management specialists and generalists, increasing the business content and broadening the appeal and relevance of these highly respected qualifications. Throughout your studies, our focus will be on practice-led learning, encompassing informed research, using real-world case studies and role play (skills practice) to enhance your essential practical and academic leadership and management skills. We will teach you how to apply your learning to real-life scenarios, using ‘live’ collaborative briefs, which have previously included Coca Cola, Primark, Sports Direct; Apple, Amazon and Qatar Olympics, so you can see for yourself the impact and influence of good human resource management on successful business performance. We will encourage you to use your student membership of CIPD to engage with field trips to conferences, as well as attending local and national branch events, so that you engage with employers, building your professional networks and accessing the latest research and thinking. Previously talks have included the Director of Perspicuous Limited, who discussed the issue of ‘unconscious bias’ by managers and senior leaders. On graduation, you will be able to enter the workforce and/or pursue further professional HRM/HRD qualifications, such as the Advanced CIPD Level 7 or an MA Human Resource Management.
