Web Design

Web design encompasses many of the same skills and disciplines that underpin graphicdesign, but applies them to an ever-changing technological environment. Web designers need to have a sound understanding of the creative processes, software and ideas behind design, but also understand interaction and usability. Using industry-recognised software, you will learn the technical and creative skills needed in the design of web applications, including writing mark-up. You will develop a portfolio of work that captures your own creative identity. You will have the opportunity to work on competition and commercial projects throughout your degree, gaining the skills you need to become a confident interdisciplinary designer, able to navigate the changing demands of industry. You will explore areas including: • front-end web design • aesthetics, layout, structure and interaction design • user interface, user experience and user centered design
