We live in a digital world and so much in our everyday lives depend on software technology and people developing and maintaining digital solutions. Apps on our phones, operating systems on PCs, large databases that manage our money in the bank, and in fact any electronic device that has a computer embedded in it, all require software to make them work. Software engineers design, build and test computer programmes that tell the hardware what to do. The BEng with foundation year provides creative and talented students, career changers, or those with experience and passion for the subject, with a direct route to an engineering degree. At BEng level you’ll build your technical expertise in analysis, design, programming, testing and evaluation to produce robust software solutions. You will explore areas including: \ problem solving in context to software engineering \ design and develop software solutions to real life issues and challenges \ evaluate network systems and human-computer interactions. YOUR CAREER This course equips you with the relevant skills and knowledge to be a practising professional graduate software engineer. Technology is moving at a fast pace, so software engineering graduates are in high demand. You’ll be able to apply and develop technology to provide digital solutions for any size organisation from mobile app development companies to large IT consultancy organisations like IBM.
