In your first year, you will be exposed to a variety of ‘histories’ – ancient, medieval, early modern, modern, cultural, political, and gender – allowing you to make a wellinformed decision when it comes to focusing your studies as you move into your second and third years. The flexibility of the course allows you to continue to mix-and-match several periods of history or specialise in, for instance, medieval or modern history. You will be taught by professional historians, active in research and publishing books and journal articles, and throughout your undergraduate career, you will benefit from ‘research-informed teaching’ as our historians bring the latest findings in their particular fields of expertise into the lecture hall and seminar room. You will explore areas including: • fascism and the Cold War • women in Medieval history • troubles in Northern Ireland
