Creative and Professional Writing - Canterbury Christ Church University

Whether you dream of being a novelist, want to write drama, or simply wish to gain an excellent skillset for the workplace, Creative and Professional Writing will teach you the essential skills for good writing: control of language, precision, imagination and a deep understanding of the context in which you write. You will dive into creative forms such as fiction, poetry, drama and game narratives, learning how to sustain a creative practice within the current publishing industry. You will also explore the rich history of writers who have come before you – from the classics to popular genres such as fantasy and thrillers. Employability is at the heart of this degree: we believe that every writer needs to be able to support themselves. Supported by tutors with recent industry experience, as well as published authors and playwrights, you will explore the range of job options open to writers. You will explore areas including: • exploring writing jobs, such as advertising, publishing and teaching • writing for different media including radio, magazines and blogs
