Sport, Health & Exercise Sciences (Human Performance) with Placement Year - Brunel University London

The Brunel Sport, Health and Exercise Sciences (Human Performance) BSc is designed for students interested in learning how sports science can be used to optimise athletic development and sport performance. You’ll learn how the human body works on physiological, biomechanical and psychological levels and how to apply this knowledge to training methods, mental techniques and nutritional strategies that enable people to consistently perform at the upper ranges of their abilities. Crucially, you’ll gain insight into how the body and mind respond to the demands of sport and exercise and how they react under intense conditions such as strenuous physical activity or competition. You’ll devise and implement training programmes for individuals and groups; monitor, evaluate, and enhance sport and exercise performance in laboratory and field settings; and design and conduct experiments with due regard for appropriate protocols, safety and participant consent. The training methods and processes you’ll develop are applicable across all sports, skill levels from beginner to elite, ages, genders and contexts including professional, educational and community. We offer three study options. You can choose three years full-time, six years part-time or four years full-time with a one-year professional placement between years two and three that will give you the chance to apply what you’ve learned to real-life situations and understand and develop professional practice.
