Design Engineering - Bournemouth University

This expert-led degree teaches you how to use the latest solid modelling, rendering and product simulation tools to create and evaluate your designs, as well as giving you an in-depth understanding of engineering principles and tools. You will be able to use an excellent array of facilities including 3D scanners and printers, modern manufacturing & technical workshops and cutting-edge prototyping facilities, all held within our Innovation Centre. You can spend year 3 on a work placement, gaining a minimum of 30 weeks’ experience in a relevant industry. Our students have previously had placements with Bentley Motors, Mercedes AMG Petronas and GE (General Electric) to name but a few. This proves invaluable in helping to enhance your employment prospects. You will be enrolled onto the 4-year degree, but can opt out of the placement year. Studying this degree will enable you to move into job roles such as a business development agent, construction project manager, design and development engineers, mechanical engineers and more.
