Media and Communication (Event and Exhibition Industries)

This course balances media production skills with the all-round ability to effectively produce and manage events and exhibitions. The course provides specialist learning in all aspects of the events industry. We enjoy excellent connections with local and national event and exhibition organisations as well as with Birmingham-based events companies. The level of collaboration helps our students when they are searching for media production jobs, with a number of our graduates going on to set up their own events companies and work for a variety of big names such as the NEC Group. Our events and exhibitions degree course encourages you to take creative risks and be a 'thinking' media worker, able to adapt to a fast-moving industry and confidently lead change. We nurture your creativity by giving you the opportunity to develop and produce your own event for a real-life client in a professional context, which ensures you are able to put theory into practice. You’ll learn all aspects of the events and exhibitions industry while developing your own management and production skills. With strong links to many influential media organisations, this course offers an industry-relevant blend of production, theory and professional studies, and students gain invaluable experience, knowledge, insight and contacts through industry placements.
