Our new Foundation Year programmes provide the best possible preparation for degree-level study at Birkbeck. They are ideal if you do not meet the entry requirements for the undergraduate degree you would like to study, if you feel you are not quite ready for an undergraduate degree, or if you are returning to study and need extra help and support. Whatever your background and circumstances, Birkbeck's Foundation Year degrees will prepare you for success. This programme will build your confidence and give you the core knowledge and key skills you need to succeed at university. You will also get a taste of the subject area you are interested in and deepen your understanding of the career potential of your chosen subject. This BSc Psychology with Foundation Year will equip you with knowledge and a critical appreciation of psychological theory and research. You will be supported in the attainment of high levels of numeracy, literacy and problem-solving and the ability to make reasoned arguments. You will develop the subject-specific skills you need for a career in psychology and postgraduate training, as well as a range of highly transferable skills that are relevant to a number of careers outside of psychology. Upon successful completion of the one-year Foundation Year, you will automatically progress on to our three-year full-time evening study BSc Psychology. You need only complete one application and you enrol onto one programme.
