Planetary Science with Astronomy - Birkbeck, University of London

Planetary geology is an area of increasing interest, as we make new discoveries about our solar system with each planetary mission. You will learn about the geology of different planetary bodies and satellites and the geological processes that have occurred. You will also receive basic training in earth sciences and use the results of recent planetary mapping to understand the nature of other terrestrial bodies within the inner solar system (Mercury, Venus, Mars and the Moon) and the rocky/icy satellites of the outer planets. This flexible course is offered part-time at Birkbeck, or you can study by distance learning. Highlights - Our Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences has been offering evening study courses for over 70 years and is ranked in the top three departments in the country. - You will learn in an environment of active research and be taught by lecturers who are working at the forefront of their specialisms. - Studying with us will give you access to world-class research facilities. - We retain close links with UCL's Department of Earth Sciences, sharing expertise, facilities and events across the two institutions, including live streaming of lectures and digital lecture notes.
