This is the 4 year course which includes a Professional Placement Year. History at Bath Spa University offers a challenging and dynamic approach to the study of history and its impact on the contemporary world. You’ll have the opportunity to study a wide range of sources, periods and themes with the support of committed, expert and friendly staff. Our teaching offers local, national and international perspectives, broad surveys, and in-depth study. - An exciting and challenging discipline. - Study as a single honours degree or as a component of combined award. - Be provided with the essential foundation for exploring fundamental questions about beliefs, values and identity; and about how history is used in the present. - A rich variety of historical topics and approaches. - Combine the study of the past with an understanding of its application in the present. **More about the Professional Placement Year** A Professional Placement Year (PPY), traditionally known as a sandwich year, is where a student undertakes a period of work with an external organisation for between 9-13 months. The placement occurs between the students' second and third years of undergraduate study. Students can engage in up to 3 placements to make up the total time and are required to source the placement(s) themselves with support from the Careers & Employability Team.
