This is the 4 year course which includes a Professional Placement Year. Geography (Physical) at Bath Spa University will expand your understanding of why here differs from there and how places change over time, focussing on the physical environment. Studying Physical Geography expands your understanding of the changing physical landscape, and the interactions that people have with different environments.This specialist pathway covers a wide variety of physical geography themes, which will build your specialist knowledge.You will develop the ability to link environmental processes and social and spatial behaviours which is a defining feature of geographical practice. - Learn geographical concepts, theories and knowledge while gaining skills that can improve your career prospects. - Be supported by a friendly team of lecturers, who are excellent teachers and active researchers. - Graduate with a range of skills that are highly valued by employers, from scientific techniques to critical thinking and team-working skills. - You will have opportunities to take part in a range of day and residential trips (recent residential trips include Barcelona, the Lake District and Northern India). **More about the Professional Placement Year** A Professional Placement Year (PPY), traditionally known as a sandwich year, is where a student undertakes a period of work with an external organisation for between 9-13 months. The placement occurs between the students' second and third years of undergraduate study. Students can engage in up to 3 placements to make up the total time and are required to source the placement(s) themselves with support from the Careers & Employability Team.
