This is the 4 year course which includes a Professional Placement Year. Fine Art at Bath Spa University is a studio centred course taught by practicing artists. From the outset you will have your own studio space and access to our excellent facilities and technical support. The course aims to support you to develop an independent, critical and reflective fine art practice in painting, drawing, sculpture, film, photography and performance. - A course about making, looking and thinking about art. - Work towards an independent, critical and reflective practice. - Gain theoretical knowledge to understand the broader issues in contemporary practice. - Learn to analyse, reflect and communicate both verbally and visually. - Be taught by specialist in the field. - Core modules will equip you with the skills you need to build a successful career as an artist or in a related profession. **More about the Professional Placement Year** A Professional Placement Year (PPY), traditionally known as a sandwich year, is where a student undertakes a period of work with an external organisation for between 9-13 months. The placement occurs between the students' second and third years of undergraduate study. Students can engage in up to 3 placements to make up the total time and are required to source the placement(s) themselves with support from the Careers & Employability Team.
