Our university is aiming high : at the cutting edge of scientific research

Aix-Marseille University is a research-intensive university that makes significant contributions to the knowledge based economy and to knowledge dissemination. Through its fundamental disciplinary and interdisciplinary research, it also confronts today’s societal challenges. AMU collaborates with the leading national research organisations (CNRS, Inserm, IRD, EHESS, CEA, IFSTTAR, INRA...) and shares with them a common scientific development strategy. AMU is keen to disseminate its research results through determined institutional and international cooperation and dynamic bidding to obtain European and international funding.

A university for knowledge and know-how : interdisciplinarity makes its strength

The new educational offer that has been deployed in September 2018 enjoys enhanced clarity and better meets the needs of the marketplace and of the latest research requirements. AMU promotes an innovative pedagogy in order to develop a high quality education that helps all students to succeed, and it develops distance learning.

An outward-looking university : a university fully committed to its territory

A major actor of regional development, Aix-Marseille University is constantly setting up new partnerships with socio-economic actors. They contribute to local innovation, support the local economy’s competitiveness and improve employment prospects for the university's students and graduates through exclusive internship and job offers. The benefits of such cooperation are bilateral: they allow companies to help their employees develop their skills in-house, through short-term accredited courses and schemes validating professional experience, to identify and recruit talented candidates from the university, and to benefit from the latest results in scientific research.

A university for all : vibrant campuses served by an ambitious patrimonial strategy

The campuses of Aix-Marseille University get more modern every day. These campuses have been designed in line with international standards and offer improved working conditions to students, staff and teachers-researchers. Our academic libraries are being renovated and our faculties keep upgrading their educational, scientific and cultural offer, thus enhancing the university’s reputation. The renovation of our real estate heritage and its adaptation to new needs fully contribute to the university’s modernisation. Our new heritage strategy offers an opportunity to take up new exciting challenges. It is closely combined with our sustainable development approach via an ambitious and innovative energy policy. AMU will thus put its heritage at the service of this cause by creating innovative processes and buildings that will also serve as demonstrators.

The AMU Foundation, A*Midex

The AMU foundation’s main ambition is to contribute to the prosperity and to the regional, national and international prestige of the university. It carries out many actions serving all the university’s missions, and raises funds to meet the objectives shared by all the actors of the Aix-Marseille site. Donating to the Foundation means investing in youth, dynamism and regional scientific innovation.
