Equine Studies

The foundation degree in Equine Studies course includes practical instruction of the care and daily management of the horse and has a strong industrial and business flavour. This two year vocational qualification is perfect for anyone wishing to gain a valuable qualification and experience in the equine industry. The equine centre at Aberystwyth is a designated BHS "Where to Train" centre, which means that the riding you undertake as part of your foundation degree is based on the BHS exam system, preparing you for your BHS stages if you wish to train towards them. You will be studying in a University that is ranked top 5 in the UK and 1st in Wales for student satisfaction (NSS, 2017). Our students benefit from a fantastic equine centre with an Olympic size indoor arena, all-weather manège, round pen, horse walker and livery facilities including turnout. We are located in a stunning coastal location with miles of un-spoilt beaches to gallop on a few miles from our equine centre. You will be taught by experts and internationally renowned and passionate teaching staff. Successful completion of the foundation degree with prerequisite grades will make you eligible to progress to a Bachelor of Science honours degree in an animal / equine-related subject, if you should wish to do so.
