World University Rankings 2020 by subject: computer science

The 2020 Times Higher Education World University Rankings table for computer science uses the same trusted and rigorous performance indicators as our overall ranking, but the methodology has been recalibrated to suit the discipline.

This year’s table has expanded to include 749 universities, up from 684 last year.

The University of Oxford tops the table once again, while Stanford University climbs one place to second. Switzerland’s ETH Zurich drops to third and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology rises one place to fourth. The University of Cambridge rounds out the top five, dropping one place since last year.

The National University of Singapore is the highest-ranked Asian institution in 11th place (up from 15th), closely followed by Nanyang Technological University, Singapore at 13th (up from 29th). 

Iran joins the top 250 for the first time, with Sharif University of Technology debuting in the 201-250 band.
