Part time, Temporary position

York St John University is an ambitious, modern university at the heart of historic city of York and there’s never been a more exciting time to join us.

After investing over £110 million in our campus and facilities, establishing nine new schools and developing a suite of attractive, contemporary courses, we’ve seen the biggest rise across all English universities in UCAS acceptances this year.

Central to our ambition is commitment to academic excellence. Over a third of our research is already considered world leading or internationally excellent. Our ambition is to increase our capacity to deliver world leading research, particularly research that has a significant real world impact.

We’ve also created the conditions for quality teaching. We’re third in the UK for the proportion of our academics with formal teaching qualifications, we’re a consistent Stonewall Top 100 employer and we hold the Social Enterprise Gold Mark for Responsible Business Practice.

We are looking for an individual to undertake the role of Energy & Environmental Projects Officer, covering a period of maternity leave (up to 12 months). The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a range of environmental projects, managing external contracts, and collating and reporting a variety of information under the leadership of the Head of Maintenance and Environmental Services. As a member of the Environmental Services team you will work with colleagues to improve the environmental performance of the University.

Although experience in a relevant role is preferred, we also welcome applications from candidates who can evidence that they have designed and delivered small projects, and also managed, communicated and reported data from alternative roles. Your interpersonal skills will be exceptional and you will take an analytical and logical approach to problem solving. Experience of using Building Energy Management Systems is desirable however training can be provided where required.

This is a part time position working 22.2 hours per week. The working pattern is negotiable.

In addition to a competitive salary and the opportunity to work at our beautiful campus in the heart of York, YSJ employees enjoy access to a superb range of benefits including –

  • Generous annual leave entitlement (plus additional leave days during our Christmas closure period)
  • Pension scheme
  • Health cash plan
  • Training and development
  • Discounts at a wide range of high street brands and local companies, including shops, cinemas and gyms.

We welcome all applicants and particularly people from minority ethnic backgrounds as they are underrepresented within the university.

Please note that CVs are not accepted in place of the application form.
