York St John University is an ambitious, modern university at the heart of historic city of York and there’s never been a more exciting time to join us.

After investing over £110 million in our campus and facilities, establishing nine new schools and developing a suite of attractive, contemporary courses, we’ve seen the biggest rise across all English universities in UCAS acceptances this year.

Central to our ambition is commitment to academic excellence. Over a third of our research is already considered world leading or internationally excellent. Our ambition is to increase our capacity to deliver world leading research, particularly research that has a significant real world impact.

We’ve also created the conditions for quality teaching. We’re third in the UK for the proportion of our academics with formal teaching qualifications, we’re a consistent Stonewall Top 100 employer and we hold the Social Enterprise Gold Mark for Responsible Business Practice.

As part of our expansion we are recruiting a Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Physiology.

The successful candidate will join a new research group in the School of Sport. The research group has a focus on cardiovascular health, sedentary behaviour and exercise prescription. The successful candidate will work with the director of the research group to help establish its standing nationally and internationally.

In regards to teaching experience and responsibilities, you will deliver sport and exercise physiology within the school at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and, as such, teaching experience is considered essential. You will also have the opportunity to supervise postgraduate research students. Candidates must have teaching experience and/or research in cardiovascular health, sedentary behaviour or exercise prescription.

If you’d like to shape the story of a 175 year old institution with a fantastic future, we’d love to hear from you.

For informal enquiries, please contact Dr Andrew Hill, Research Lead for the School of Sport on 01904 876365 or a.hill@yorksj.ac.uk
