The Scottish Centre of Excellence in Satellite Applications, SoXSA, based at the University of Strathclyde, in partnership with the European Space Agency, ESA, are recruiting a Business Ambassador for Scotland and Northern Ireland to inform, connect and collaborate with customers, clients and partners to address challenges through the use of space assets and technology to develop innovative and novel services and solutions.

SoXSA is based in the Technology and Innovation Centre at the University of Strathclyde. You will work together with the SoXSA team in Glasgow and Inverness, and the Northern Ireland Space Office, NISO, in Belfast, and will be required to travel extensively throughout Scotland and Northern Ireland. As such, applicants based out with the Glasgow area are also encouraged and welcomed, and job-shares will be considered.

You will build awareness of the ESA Business Applications programmes to users and partners, increasing levels of engagement. You will identify the needs of customers and users through interaction with local partners, aided by Scottish Enterprise, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, and Invest NI, to highlight challenges that could potentially be addressed with the use of space-based resources and services to encourage the development of sustainable, new space-enabled businesses, services and solutions.

To be considered for the role you will be educated to Degree level in a Science, Engineering, or Business discipline, with significant professional experience gained at management level within a relevant environment i.e. within industry, commerce or the higher education sector, where the principal source of income is based on concept selling. You will have demonstrable experience in project leadership, developing effective strategic and operational plans to deliver against a business plan and you will have experience of working and leading in an innovation-led environment, with an understanding of how applied research and development activities are conducted and funded, and knowledge and experience of business development. You will have experience of developing innovative solutions to business needs and a proven track record of generating collaborative projects with multiple partners. You will have experience in dealing with a range of complex issues in relation to collaborative projects arising from differing approaches/priorities of partners/stakeholders. You will have demonstrable ability in project manage, including budgeting and scheduling, with an ability to simultaneously manage and prioritise a portfolio of complex collaborative projects. You will have good people management skills, an entrepreneurial attitude, be a strategic thinker, have an ability to lead and influence and self-direct with minimal input from director level.
