University of Strathclyde
Appointment of Professor in Accounting

The University of Strathclyde is a socially progressive, leading international technological university that makes a positive difference to the lives of its students, to society and the world.

Established in 1796 as a place of ‘useful learning’, the University has a world-wide reputation for teaching and research excellence, and is one of only nine universities in the UK – and 44 globally – with a five-star rating from QS World University Rankings, scoring highly across the areas of teaching, employability, research, internationalisation, facilities, innovation, inclusiveness, and specialist.

Strathclyde Business School – the first triple accredited Business School in Scotland and Business School of the Year 2016 according to the Times Higher Education Awards – is now seeking to add critical mass to its faculty body. It is within this context, that the Department of Accounting and Finance, under the leadership of Dr Andrea Coulson, wishes to appoint a Professor in Accounting.

The Department is in a period of rapid growth and expansion with a number of new faculty being appointed over the last six months alone. The Professor in Accounting will join a diverse team of scholars and be a reputable academic within their own field of expertise. The Department would welcome applications from individuals from across the globe and with expertise in various accounting subject areas, including – though not restricted to – social and environmental accounting, accounting technologies, auditing and digital futures, corporate governance and accounting risk.

In addition to demonstrating research excellence as evidenced by a track record of high quality publications and grant funding income, the post-holder will contribute to teaching and leadership, as appropriate (relative to their career stage). They will drive forward impactful research, contribute to the University’s ethos of inter-disciplinarity and build meaningful collaborations through relevant stakeholder engagement.

Salary for the Professorial position will be commensurate with the appointee’s accomplishments and potential.

Informal enquiries regarding the post should be directed to the University’s appointed advisors, Perrett Laver: online at https://candidates.perrettlaver.com/vacancies/, quoting reference number 3520, or by contacting Urvashi Ramphul at Urvashi.ramphul@perrettlaver.com or via 0207 340 6280.

The deadline for applications for this position is Sunday 6th May.

Applications will be considered by the University during May and it is anticipated that shortlisted candidates will subsequently be invited to visit the University and attend formal interviews in late May.

The University of Strathclyde is a charitable body, registered in Scotland, no SCO15263.
