The Centre for Applied Mathematics (CAM) of the Faculty of Science and Technology invites applications for the position of an Associate/Assistant Professor in the areas of Applied and Computational Mathematics with emphasis on high performance scientific computing. This position is intended to complement and strengthen the expertise of existing staff members. We are seeking candidates with a proven track record in terms of scientific publications, and a commitment to teaching and student supervision.
 
CAM members work closely with the Department of Mathematics, which currently has 18 faculty members and offers Bachelor, Master and PhD degree programs and the Bachelor’s degree program has two streams: Applied Mathematics, Statistics and Data Science. CAM provides a platform for its members, students, research assistant, postdoctoral fellows and visitors to interact with each other to conduct research in the area of their specialization. CAM focuses on a few areas including high performance scientific computing, computational mathematics, statistics and applied probabilities, machine learning mathematical research, optimization, and some applied research. It also explores the role of mathematics in smart city development, drug design and development, natural disaster prediction and prevention, etc., as well as actively participate in major technology and engineering projects and seek innovative cooperation with industry.
 
Qualifications

• PhD degree holders in Mathematics or related areas;
• Preference will be given to candidates with specialties in high performance scientific computing.

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in August 2021.

Remuneration
A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP828,100 (approximately USD102,230) will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
