Following recognition of our excellent research in REF 2014, outstanding student satisfaction in the 2020 NSS and strong undergraduate and postgraduate recruitment, we are seeking to make a further appointment at Lecturer level to expand our expertise in the area of Biomedical Science. This post will support delivery of teaching at all undergraduate levels across our Biomedical Science programmes including final year dissertation students and MBio masters level students. We are seeking a candidate who:

  • Has a strong academic profile related to any area of Biomedical Science, although we would particularly welcome applicants with experience in Human Ageing and Disease, Cancer or Haematology;
  • Will engage in pure and/or applied research which will complement existing strengths within the School. The successful candidate would be expected to join the Diabetes, Metabolism and Inflammation; Cancer and Ageing or Microbiology and Biotechnology research groups;
  • Is an excellent communicator who will complement the School’s existing teaching. We would particularly welcome applications from individuals who are Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered or who are currently a member of the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) to be able to support teaching of relevant clinical knowledge of the Biomedical Science professions to our students. Our BSc and MBio Biomedical Science programmes are IBMS registered.
  • Will work closely with other members of staff within the School of Life Sciences as well as external partners.
