Greenwich Learning and Teaching (GiLT) fosters learning and teaching excellence across the university by offering co-ordinated leadership and support of quality assurance and enhancement; a portfolio of development activity; and a forum for staff and student engagement with the learning and teaching agenda. The Head of Quality Enhancement has responsibility for the university’s core quality assurance and enhancement activities, with a remit to strengthen integration of assurance and enhancement activity and embed an enhancement-led approach to learning and teaching across the university.

The Head of Quality Enhancement is responsible for:

  • Oversight of the university’s quality assurance systems, including addressing the university’s obligations to the Quality Assurance Agency and other regulatory bodies;
  • Development and delivery of the Educational Development Plan: a programme of initial and continuing professional development opportunities for staff who teach and support learning, including the PGCertHE and GOLD professional recognition scheme;
  • Oversight of the university’s curriculum development provision, including TESTA and PACE.

You will line manage the GiLT academic team and the Quality Leads for Programmes and Partnerships, and you will have overall management responsibility for the Quality Officers in GiLT.

You will have a track record of effective teaching, leadership and management in an HE context, including experience of integrating quality assurance and enhancement. You will have a comprehensive grasp of developments and trends in HE learning and teaching; systems and processes to assure quality and standards in learning and teaching; and the support and development needs of staff who teach and support learning. You will have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including influencing and motivating colleagues, and an ability to work effectively with wide range of students and staff (administrative, academic, and senior managers). You will possess a clear and compelling vision for developing and embedding an enhancement-led approach to quality of learning and teaching; and will have credibility with both academic and professional colleagues, supported by relevant qualifications and professional recognition including PhD, PGCertHE and Senior/Principal Fellow of the HEA or equivalent.
