Applications are invited for appointments as Tenure-Track Associate Professor/Assistant Professor jointly offered by the Department of Computer Science and the Faculty of Business and Economics (with the former as the home department), to commence on January 1, 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and with consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.  The post is created to support a new joint undergraduate programme in Financial Technology which is hosted in the Department of Computer Science.

The Department of Computer Science enjoys the reputation of providing high-quality education and conducting top-notch research.  It offers programmes at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and has excellent computing resources and supporting facilities for teaching and research.  Information about the Department can be obtained at http://www.cs.hku.hk/.  The finance group of the Faculty of Business and Economics consists of more than 20 research-active faculty members and runs a high-quality weekly seminar series.  The Faculty colleagues have published 27 papers in JF, JFE, and RFS since 2013 (top 25 in the world and No. 1 in Asia in UT Dallas Business School Ranking based on these three journals).

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Computational Finance, Statistics or a related field, with research interest in one of the following areas: security and privacy issues in financial applications, emerging technologies related to finance such as blockchain, cryptocurrency, e-payment, data analytics related to finance, computational and quantitative finance, and any area related to financial technology. He/She should have a strong commitment to research and teaching.  A solid track record in research is essential.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  The appointments will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.  Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
