Lecturer in the Division of Chinese Language and Literature

Applications are invited for appointment as Lecturer in the Division of Chinese Language and Literature in the Faculty of Education, to commence on September 1, 2018, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal.

The Faculty of Education is ranked number 4 among the top Education faculties worldwide by the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings for Education 2018. Information about the Faculty can be obtained at http://www.hku.hk/education.

Applicants should have a higher degree or above in the relevant area, a professional teaching qualification, not less than 5 years’ teaching experience, and good knowledge of the local education scene.  Applicants should have strengths and experience in teaching at least two of the following areas: Chinese language education, Chinese linguistics, and teaching Chinese as a second language.  Those with knowledge and experience relating to the IB Chinese curriculum and assessment would be highly desirable. The appointee will be expected to take up substantial teaching responsibilities, undertake school practicum supervision and assume administrative responsibilities.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with the appointee's qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.
