Post-doctoral Fellow in Energy Techno-Economic Transition Modelling
- Full Time
Work type: Full-time
Department: Department of Chemistry (25200)
Categories: Senior Research Staff & Post-doctoral Fellow
Applications are invited for appointment as an interdisciplinary Post-doctoral Fellow in the Department of Chemistry (Ref.: 523803), to commence as soon as possible for 18 months, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.
The appointee will work on “Energy Transition Modelling and Simulations towards Net-Zero Emissions”, particularly for island / coastal regions, such as Hong Kong. The research focus will be on the social-techno-economic approaches and insights in energy transition pathways, away from legacy technologies towards green resource carriers, such as green hydrogen, methanol and/or ammonia. The successful candidate will work closely with Professor Zheng Xiao Guo (Chemistry) and his colleagues in Social Economics, within an interdisciplinary team of world-leading and internationally recognized researchers. This work forms a key component of the Hong Kong Research Grants Council’s Theme-based Research Scheme grant: Towards Carbon Neutrality: Catalysing H2O and CO2 to Green Resource Carriers based out of the University of Hong Kong.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in engineering economics, quantitative social sciences, or a related discipline. Fluency in written and spoken English and Chinese, good organizational and leadership skills, the ability to work independently, a strong sense of responsibility and self-motivation are essential. Experience or familiarity with the use of agent-based models that incorporate social aspects of energy transition is a plus. Enquiries about the post should be sent to Professor Z.X. Guo at email@example.com.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
The University only accepts online application for the above post. Applicants should apply online and upload an up-to-date C.V. Review of applications will commence towards the end of December 2023 and continue until the post is filled.
