Applications are invited for appointment as Lecturer in the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering (Ref.: 523091), to commence as soon as possible on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering or a closely related field, with a strong commitment to quality teaching. They should have good interpersonal and communication skills in written and spoken English; and should be self-motivated, highly-organised and a good team player.
The appointee is expected to teach courses and develop final year project topics in, but not limited to, three subject clusters: (1) engineering management including project management, quality management, operations management, supply chain and logistics management, and engineering economics; (2) systems analytics including operations research, intelligent decision and analytics, industrial optimization; and (3) cyber-physical systems including robotics and automation, IoT (Internet of Things), digital twins, cyber-physical systems, and smart industrial systems.
The appointee will also be responsible for coordinating with the industrial partners or stakeholders to support teaching and learning, such as providing support on delivery of capstone courses at undergraduate and taught postgraduate programmes; knowledge exchange; and project/research development in the Department. Specially, the appointee will be responsible to ally with industries to develop and coordinate student final year projects and student internships. He/She will also be expected to perform any other duties as assigned. Priority will be given to those who demonstrate strong track record of related teaching experiences and working experience in industries.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.
