Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Clinical Associate Professor/Clinical Assistant Professor in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology of the Faculty of Dentistry (Ref.: 520658), to commence as soon as possible on a four-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second four-year fixed-term contract.

The Faculty of Dentistry is the only dental school in Hong Kong and the only one in Greater China that uses English as the medium of instruction.  The high quality of the Faculty’s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, research excellence and clinical/professional services have attained global recognition, as evidenced by the Faculty’s global rankings among the top 1% by the QS World University Rankings by Subject in the past nine years.  The Faculty’s strategic research themes include Clinical Artificial Intelligence, Craniofacial Regeneration, Microbiome Innovation, Oral Cancer, and Population Oral Health.  The Faculty also plays an important role in public and professional education through its knowledge exchange (KE) activities as well as in oral health research and promotions in international, regional and local communities.

For appointment as Clinical Associate Professor, applicants should possess a dental or medical Bachelor's degree or equivalent, clinical specialist or equivalent status, and a Ph.D. degree or equivalent.  They should also have: (i) proven evidence for quality research, publications in high quality international journals, and local and regional recognition for scholarship and professional expertise; (ii) demonstrated ability in undergraduate and postgraduate education, clinical practice and research; (iii) demonstrated participation in Faculty and University affairs; and (iv) demonstrated ability in knowledge exchange (KE) activities, and leadership in professional education programmes or community engagement.

For appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor, applicants should possess a dental or medical Bachelor's degree or equivalent, and a Master of Dental Surgery degree or equivalent in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology.  They should also have (i) ability in undergraduate and postgraduate clinical teaching and practice; (ii) potential for and interest in research; (iii) ability and willingness to participate in Faculty affairs; and (iv) participation in KE activities.

Possession of good administrative and academic leadership skills will be an advantage.  Interest in artificial intelligence (AI) and big data applications in dentistry is a great merit.  The appointee will be responsible for clinical training of dental undergraduates, teaching taught postgraduates, supervision of research postgraduates, provision of consultative service, and conducting research in oral and maxillofacial radiology.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.  The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.  Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
