At the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Science, Institute of Philosophy, the Chair of Theoretical Philosophy offers a project position within the framework of the DFG project "Acceptance: Nature and Norms" as

Research Associate / Postdoc (m/f/x)
(subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)

starting October 1, 2023. The position is limited until September 30, 2026. The period of employment is governed by § 2 (2) Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification (usually habilitation thesis).

The project "Acceptance: Nature and Norms" investigates the concept of acceptance as it is used in philosophical debates in analytical epistemology, analytical philosophy of language, and decision theory.

Tasks:

  • academic collaboration in the mentioned research project and writing academic publications on study findings,
  • project coordination and support for project management,
  • independent research contributing to the theory of acceptance in the mentioned field of study.

Requirements:

  • excellent university (Master's or equivalent) and PhD degree in the field of philosophy,
  • demonstrated knowledge in analytical epistemology, philosophy of language, or decision theory, with an interest in applications in practical philosophy,
  • teamwork, communication skills, and initiative,
  • proficiency in written English.
