At TU Dresden, Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden (CRTD), an institute of the Center for Molecular and Cellular Bioengineering (CMCB), the Junior Research Group Dynamics and Mechanisms of Cell Renewal (PD Dr. Olaf Bergmann) offers, subject to the availability of resources, a position as

Research Associate / Postdoc (m/f/x)
(subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)

The start date is negotiable but can be as soon as possible. The position is funded by the LeDucq Foundation and will initially be limited until December 31, 2023 with the option for extension. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG).

The CRTD consists of more than 80 international research groups working in the field of hematology, diabetes, neurodegenerative diseases, and bone regeneration. The CRTD explores the capacity for regeneration of the human body and aims to develop novel regenerative therapies, e.g. with hematological stem cells. In order to be able to develop such therapies, the research institute explores mechanisms of stem cell physiology in vitro as well as in vivo using animal models such as mice, axolotl, and zebrafish.

Tasks: elucidate mechanisms of cardiac regeneration and cardiomyocyte proliferation by developing cellular 2D and 3D models of regeneration in the context of redox regulation.

Requirements: university and PhD degree in biology or related fields with expertise in the following areas:

  • hiPSC-derived cardiomyocytes; experience in 3D models and organoids is a plus;
  • genetic manipulation of hiPSC;
  • in-vivo imaging and time-lapse microscopy;
  • genomics and bioinformatics.

The CRTD operates in English and therefore good knowledge of both spoken and written English is a requirement.
