The Graduate School "Mineral-bonded composites for  enhanced  structural impact  safety"  (GRK 2250) at TU Dresden, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), offers a position starting from July 1, 2021, subject to the availability of resources, as a 

Research Associate / Postdoc / Junior Research Group Leader
(Subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 14 TV-L )

for a period up to 4,5 years. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). The position aims at obtaining further academic qualification (e.g. habilitation thesis).

Tasks: Independent scientific research and continued qualification within the framework of the DFG- GRK 2250. Cross-project scientific work and overarching collection, processing, utilization and dissemination of data and findings from the individual research projects of the GRK 2250 with the aim of fully developing the high potential of synergetic research in the GRK; Facilitating a constant and intensive, multilateral collaboration between the doctoral research projects in the GRK; Conception of a synergetic database for the methods and results from the experimental, numerical, metrological or empirical doctoral projects in the GRK; Development and activation of synergies in the Graduate School through interdisciplinary thinking and action; Development and experimenting of GRK-specific interdisciplinary approaches; Independent elaboration and formulation of a self-contained research task which is clearly above the level of the promotion projects and has as many contentual interfaces as possible to the doctoral research projects; Independent work on the interface between experiments, numerical simulations, measurement techniques and empirical analyzes, high-quality publication on the results of the research work in individual or cooperative publications at conferences and scientific journals. One’s scientific qualification improvement by consistent application of research approaches, methods and findings resulting from the overarching approach should at the end fulfill the goals of the habilitation.

Requirements:  

Excellent university and doctorate degree in the field of engineering sciences.

Interdisciplinary knowledge is required in the fields of experimental characterization of mineral-bonded composites, their numerical simulation and non-contact high-speed measurement technology. We are looking for a first-class young scientist with excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language, who want to distinguish oneself in science. Curiosity, flexibility and above-average commitment as well as a high degree of leadership are expected.
