As part of the Tenure Track Programme of the German Federal Government and the Federal States (Tenure Track Programme) at TU Dresden, the International Institute Zittau, invites applications for the

Chair (W2) of Business Management, esp. Corporate Biodiversity Management
(with tenure track to W3) 

with a six year contract, to be filled at 1st April 2019. In being appointed to the chair, evaluation criteria will be mutually agreed upon, which will be evaluated by a TU Dresden evaluation commission at the latest in the fifth year of the chair. The main focus of the evaluation will be the scientific success in the form of subject-relevant and high-quality publications, the acquisition of third-party research funds as well as related project management, commitment and success in teaching performance in each case at the level of a W3 chair, the establishment of research cooperations and special commitment to the academic selfadministration. Following a positive evaluation, a permanent Chair (W3) of Business Management, esp. Corporate Biodiversity Management will be granted.

During the temporary position at the chair, the applicant must prove that she/he is capable of fulfilling all requirements in teaching and research in this field. She/He will represent the field of Business Management, esp. Corporate Biodiversity Management, in research and teaching. Mandatory teaching assignment amounts to 8 semester hours per week. Teaching activities will require excellent command of English as priority of teaching lies in the international master's programmes “Ecosystem Services" and “International Management”. Additional teaching activities in German are preferable, but not necessarily required. It is expected that the successful applicant will be actively involved in the further development of the master’s programmes at the IHI Zittau and in their integration with programmes and courses offered by the Faculties of Business and Economics as well as Environmental Sciences at the TU Dresden. An affiliate membership in the Faculty of Business and Economics is intended. Furthermore, the candidate will be engaged in the integration of study offers of the IHI Zittau with its international partners, especially in Central and Eastern European neighbouring countries. The successful candidate is expected to be willing to engage in interdisciplinary research and teaching in the diverse yet importantly connected areas of business and economics, environmental sciences, biology and biotechnology, which includes active cooperation with PRISMA, the cross-faculty Centre for Sustainability Assessment and Policy at TU Dresden. Realising transdisciplinary approaches, it is expected that the holder of the position engages in national and international business and other societally relevant networks that are dedicated to biodiversity and ecosystem services in entrepreneurial decision-making. This should include networking with local actors of the Euroregion Neisse. The duties include participation in academic selfadministration.

The applicant shall demonstrate the quality of his/her work and international standing through first-class publications in internationally refereed journals and holds scientific expertise in the area of business management, ideally already with research and teaching experience in the area of corporate biodiversity management. lt is expected that the candidate has comprehensive experience in interdisciplinary methods and approaches in the fields of sustainability/environmental management and/or Corporate Social Responsibility. Potential future research and teaching subjects of the chair will range from systematic integration of biodiversity and ecosystem services in the process of providing and utilising goods and services as well as in environmental management systems to the development of suitable indicators and procedures for natural capital and business accounting and strategic concepts to take biodiversity better into account in the businesses’ daily activities. This may include end-of-the-pipe approaches, but even more so pursuing proactive approaches in responsibility for present and future generations. The applicant shows evidence of experience in acquiring external funding in previous functions and must fulfil the employment qualification requirements of § 58 of the Act on the Autonomy of Institutions of Higher Education in the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSFG). Generally an applicant's additional scientific performance is presented in the form of a habilitation, successfully evaluated Junior Professorship or another academic accomplishment of equal value.
