Shantou University invites applications for the position of Lecturer / Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Full Professor in Environmental Engineering (especially Advanced Water/Wastewater Engineering, Environmental Biotechnology, Air Pollution Engineering, Road and Bridge/Geotechnical Engineering)

Shantou University (STU), founded in 1981, is a comprehensive university jointly supported by the Ministry of Education, the Guangdong Provincial Government and the Li Ka Shing Foundation and is the only public university in the world that receives long-term funding from the Li Ka Shing Foundation. The University campus is located in the northwestern part of Shantou, a seaside city, covering a total area of 1.26 square kilometers with a floor space of 435,200 m2.

The University consists of 8 colleges and schools, namely, College of Liberal Arts, College of Science, College of Engineering, Medical College, Law School, Business School, Cheung Kong School of Art and Design, and Cheung Kong School of Journalism and Communication. It enrolls qualified students from all over the country (including the Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macau, as well as Taiwan). Additionally, STU has a Graduate School and a School of Continuing Education. Currently, STU has a staff of 1,540 members and a student enrollment of over 10,056 students. Some 90,000 students have graduated from STU.

In September of 2013, the Technion–Israel Institute of Technology and Shantou University signed a Memorandum of Understanding for jointly establishing the Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT), an institution of higher learning in Shantou. On April 9, 2015, the Ministry of Education approved the preparation for the establishment of GTIIT.

According to an announcement by Elsevier, four STU professors have entered the list of The Most Globally Influential Scholars from Chinese Universities, thus giving STU a ranking of 68th in China and 4th in Guangdong Province. In 2015, STU was named as one of high-level universities in Guangdong Province, and in the same year, the institution placed in the 601-800 category in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
