To further strengthen our world-leading research areas, we are investing to develop exciting opportunities in multi-disciplinary research.

The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at Northumbria University has staff with internationally recognised expertise in a number of fields of research relevant to the conduct of controlled trials investigating the health effects of nutritional interventions. These include research groupings that currently investigate the effects of nutrition on brain function, physical performance, and cardiovascular/cerebrovascular function in humans, and research staff with the capacity to measure a multitude of health related biomarkers, and explore the bio-molecular and cellular mechanisms of action of nutrients (including via the use of genomics, metabolomics and proteomics).  The Faculty is in the process of consolidating the relevant research capacity across departments (Psychology; Sport Exercise and Rehabilitation; Applied Sciences), into a single, cogent, high-visibility, multi-disciplinary offering that captures the entirety of the Faculty’s research capacity relevant to human nutrition trials.

The Faculty is seeking an exceptional research scientist with expertise in a relevant subject area who will primarily be responsible for the facilitation, co-ordination and external promotion of this multidisciplinary research grouping.
