The Division of Arts and Humanities at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) invites applications for an open rank, multi and interdisciplinary, full-time tenure/tenure-track faculty position. We seek a scholar and educator whose scholarship and experiences bridge the studies of places, movements and environments with the Arts and Humanities focused on the Middle East, North Africa, and Indian Ocean world. The scholarship of applicants should encompass Cultural Theory, Anthropology and Ethnography, Music, Migration and Human Geographies. The ideal candidate must have a strong publication record suitable for tenure at New York University. Commitment to teaching excellence, supervision of BA, MA and PhD students, and strong record of service to their current and previous institution are required.
Applicants should also have experience in higher-level administration including expanding undergraduate programs and developing graduate programs and directing departments. We seek a colleague who will lead our students in investigations that intertwine art practices and scholarly disciplines.

This position requires a PhD in either or a combination of the following fields: Cultural Theory, Anthropology and Ethnography, Migration and Human Geographies. Fluency in Arabic and other languages is strongly desired.
